Welcome to our project status page ...
Our servers have arrived in California, and are now installed in the
data center. This is a temporary home for the servers; in the coming
weeks we will be moving again, to a larger cabinet with more
bandwidth.
The database servers have been configured, with data from the
original backgammon site. This allows us to use much of the same
information, including nicknames and passwords. The servers for the
games, robots, website and the lobby have also been configured and
moved into the data center.
Within two weeks, we will start building the backgammon client and
making the necessary code changes. Based on the programming tasks as
they have been outlined, our timetable is to begin testing the
client in November. The time spent for testing depends on how the
testing goes, but we have scheduled one month to privately and
publicly test the client. If you signed up to help with testing, I
will be in touch with more information as the time approaches.
Once testing is underway, we will have more accurate information
with regard to an opening date for public play. We'll update as the
testing progresses.
Right now we are making plans for New Year's Eve, with games,
tournaments and other fun throughout the day and night. I hope
you'll join us!
Thank you for the many emails of support and suggestions for our
site. Please keep the ideas coming!
Memberships…
If you meant to, but haven't yet joined, now is a great time to
do it! Your membership will be processed, and waiting for you when
the site opens. All membership proceeds will be used for the launch
of the site, and expenses going forward. A lifetime membership can
be purchased for $1500 USD. Membership for the first year is $150
USD.
There are shorter term options also. A six-month subscription is $75
USD, and three-month is $40 USD.
